DESIGN FEATURES IN MORE DETAIL

RUBBER PADS

The sides of the mudguard are flared out to touch and hold onto the fork to dampen resonance and create more stability, thick rubber pads have been included for the sides of the mudguard to protect the fork

BOLTS

We have designed our own custom bolts for ease of use and to ensure we have the most secure fit. The following bolts come supplied in the packaging:

  • M3 x 2 (FOX / MARZOCCHI)
  • M4 x 3 (OHLINS)
  • M6 x 1 (SR SUNTOUR)

TILT BRACKETS

We have included two TILT BRACKETS that just clip onto the front of the bracket allowing you to raise or lower the front for a better angle if needed.

ALLEN KEYS

2 Allen keys have been provided in the v1 packaging and only 1 in the v2 packaging as all the bolts were re-designed around a 3mm hex allen key

REAR FLICK

The raised rear flick was designed to simply offer a little bit more protection without adding extra length, it prevents more mud and spray from flying up the side of the frame especially when the wheel is turned

STICKER INDENT

The centre indent is a nice easy reference to apply our coloured stickers to, this indent also prevents the sticker from sitting proud on the surface of the guard which would leave it vulnerable to durability issues. The adhesive used is very special and super strong and can be jet washed

SEAL SHIELD

Our widely acclaimed Seal Shield offers greater protection for your fork seals from high velocity mud and spray lengthening service intervals

MATERIAL

We make our mudguard material thicker than the competition out there which together with our unique polypropylene mix allows massive impact protection, flexibility, and importantly cold weather durability and strength.

NB: If you don’t like the gloss highlights then spray the mudguard with GT85 and rub, this will remove the high gloss finish

BOLT PACKS

Additional bolt packs can be purchased should you need them

Our ProGuard Front - BOLT ON v1 is designed, manufactured, and packed in the United Kingdom

MODIFYING THE ORIGINAL BOLT ON (V1)

OHLINS RXF38 WITH XL CSU (measuring 70mm)

Some Ohlins RXF38 forks have an extra-large top crown (CSU) measuring approximately 66-70mm (usually found on ebikes), these 2 sizes don’t clear the mudguard on the original Bolt On v1 if it’s not modified when using the RXF38 Adapter Bracket, the standard size crown 60mm should clear fine.

You can see if your fork is the standard or extra-large version of CSU by simply measuring the widest point of the round top crown see below:

Measure crown at widest point image
  1. Approximately 60mm = STANDARD
  2. Approximately 66mm & 70mm = EXTRA-LARGE (XL)

NB: after modification and fitting test your bottom out clearance by removing the air from your fork and slowly depressing the fork to see if it clears the bracket to ensure its safe to use.

If yours is the XL version then you can modify your bracket to create more bottom out clearance when using some of our Adapter Brackets, you just need to cut off the centre supports as shown below with a sharp blade which will not affect your warranty.

IMPORTANT: Adults only for this modification, be careful not to slip and puncture the mudguard or hurt yourself

Example below:

Example image

BOLT ON V2: The new ProGuard Bolt On v2 does not need any modifications as the mudguard already clears the CSU.

Fitting the ProGuard BOLT ON

A FULL LIST OF COMPATIBLE FORKS CAN BE FOUND HERE

FITTING TO THE FRONT:

  1. IMPORTANT: You must apply the rubber adhesive side pads to the recess on the mudguard side wings, they protect your fork legs and provide vital stability and resonance damping

Image showing how to apply the rubber adhesive side pads
  2. Clean the fork threads and the fork legs MAKING SURE YOU DRY THE THREADS THOROUGHLY
  3. Select the correct bolts for your fork (details below) and run these into the threads WITHOUT the mudguard which will 'PRIME' and clean the threads before fitting, this part is important(YOU MAY NEED TO RE-TAP THE THREADS IF DEBRIS / PAINT IS LEFT IN THE THREADS FROM THE MANUFACTURE OF THE FORKS)

    MOST COMMON BOLTS: FOX & MARZOCCHI = M3 | OHLINS = M4 | EXT ERA & SOME XFUSION = M5 | SR SUNTOUR = M6

Some SR SUNTOUR forks have an unthreaded straight through hole in the centre of the fork brace, you can purchase a SLEEVE PACK FITTING KIT to allow the PROGUARD BOLT ON to fit these forks (sold separately)

  4. Squeeze the side wings of the mudguard hard and slide under the fork brace from the rear with the wheel and tyre still in place
  5. You should be able to locate the mudguard and let go as the rubber side pads should hold it in place (ensure the slots are centrally aligned to the threaded holes on your fork)
  6. Use the Allen key provided to screw the bolts in EVENLY a bit each side, go gentle to start off to ensure you DON'T CROSS THREAD THEM, squeeze the side wings periodically during tightening to break the seal so it can move
  7. Check alignment of the mudguard to ensure the distance from the tyre is even front and back, if you need to adjust the alignment then remove the mudguard and clip-on the appropriate TILT BRACKET found in the packaging (see example below). There are 2 TILT BRACKETS, one raises the front of the mudguard up and the other lowers it down (written on the TILT BRACKET)

Image showing how to apply the rubber adhesive side pads
  8. You can also change the height of the mudguard through the slots for more clearance. NOTE: Highest position offers the most stability with the best mud clearance, check bottom out clearance before use.
  9. Finally tighten the bolts to the torque settings below:

    TORQUE SETTINGS:
    M3 / M4 / M5 = 0.5nm to 1nm MAXIMUM | M6 = 2nm

NOTE: ONLY USE THE RRP SUPPLIED BOLTS AS THESE ARE SPECIFICALLY SELECTED OR DESIGNED FOR THE MUDGUARD. REPLACEMENT BOLTS PACKS ARE AVAILIBLE.

IMPORTANT - YOU MUST CHECK BOTTOM OUT CLEARANCE, LET THE AIR OUT OF YOUR FORK AND COMPRESS TO TEST IF THE FORK HITS THE MUDGUARD WHEN BOTTOMING. LOWER THE MUDGUARD THROUGH THE SLOTS IF YOU NEED MORE CLEARANCE, IF YOU CAN'T LOWER FURTHER THEN DO NOT USE

Important

  • Bolts must be checked before each ride to ensure the mudguard is secure
  • Remove mudguard every few rides to clean the brace / threads / fork legs / rubber pads
  • DO NOT USE IN STICKY / CLAGGY MUD AS IT MAY BLOCK AND CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE
  • MIN CLEARANCES - 15mm from the tyre when fitted and 10mm from the frame (on bottoming)
  • INSPECT BEFORE YOU RIDE: DO NOT USE IF DAMAGED IN ANY WAY AS CONTINUED USE MAY LEAD TO FAILURE OR INJURY
  • RapidRacerProducts Ltd accepts no liability for any damage or injury caused due to improper fitting or use of our products

The Mucky Nutz, Mudhugger and RRP guards were hard to seperate, all doing an impeccable job and offering superb value. In the end, we loved the RRP ProGuard BOLT ON version If you want the full-factory look, if you have compatible forks, the RRP ProGuard BOLT ON is the sexiest mudguard on the market! Affordable and high performance, it’s a top drawer mudguard

The RRP ProGuard Bolt On is one of those products that’s hard to believe no one thought of before. So long zip-ties, rubber bands and hook and loop straps. RRP has taken its excellent ProGuard and added a mount that’ll attach to certain fork braces via a couple of bolts, transforming it into a neat, waste-free and easily removable guard in one fell swoopWe like it because it could be the easiest and quickest oversized mudguard out there to fit or remove. Rejoice all ye who transport their bike in the boot of their car and have to lay it flat, as this has been bending and deforming mudguards for years. Remove the bolts and keep your guard straight for easy portage, or quickly adapt to changing trail conditions pre-ride

It's a beast of a fender capable of keeping water and muck away from your face in the most hideous conditions. Both fenders have worked sensationally. This is another one of those, “why didn’t they think of that sooner” scenarios
